Not Just For Sports People!

All sports massages include a specific range of PNF Stretches

Sports Massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue and is especially helpful for chronic and tense areas such as pulled muscles, tired legs, aching joints, stiff necks, lower back tightness and sore shoulders. Using specific strokes, a sports massage is both powerful and vigorous to get to the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

Regular treatments can aid in the break down scar tissue, remove the build-up of toxins, improve mobility and reduce the risk of further injury.

Deep tissue/Soft Tissue massage will help improve relaxation, minimize muscle tension and improve range of movement and help prevent or relieve DOMS.

PNF STRETCHING

PNF Stretching, or Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation stretching, is a set of stretching techniques commonly used to enhance both active and passive range of motion in order to improve motor performance and aid rehabilitation.

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation is an advanced form of flexibility training that involves both the stretching and contraction of the muscle group being targeted.

PNF stretching was originally developed as a form of rehabilitation, and  is very effective. It is also excellent for targeting specific muscle groups, and as well as increasing flexibility, it also improves muscular strength.

SPORTS TAPING

Sports taping is the process of applying tape directly to the skin in order to maintain a stable position of bones and muscles during athletic activity. It is a procedure that uses tape, attached to the skin, to physically keep in place muscles or bones at a certain position. This reduces pain and aids recovery.

Taping has many roles such as to support the ligaments and capsules of unstable joints by limiting excessive or abnormal anatomical movement. Taping also enhances proprioceptive feedback from the limb or joint. Taping can support injuries at the muscle-tendon units by compressing and limiting movement and secure protective pads, dressings and splints.

KINESIO TAPING

The Kinesio Taping Method is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy.

Kinesio taping has been shown to reduce the severity in injuries, as well as the occurrence of injury in most sports and helps control injury management: Tape is applied to manage symptoms of chronic injuries.
